Roverlution.org owes its rapid growth to the strength, talents, and
dedication of a few good generals and a strong army of fighting
soldiers we call Rovers. The battle cry came from Denver,
Colorado in 2005, when news hit that the city had re-instated the
enforcement of a breed ban. Denver residents were forced to
surrender family dogs to be destroyed at the shelter or pay heavy
fines with the penalty of jail time. Next, animal control and police
officers started to scour neighborhoods — invading private
homes where suspect dogs lived, terrorizing dog owners and
taking away family dogs.
As this terrible news traveled west to California, it would find and
later tie a bond to unite the fighting spirits of three passionate
individuals. What began as a conscientious and righteous
movement to oppose Denver’s breed ban by Paula Terifaj DVM
(a veterinarian), Jan Keith (a school teacher) and Mark
Schoenfeld (former city councilman and non practicing attorney)
has mushroomed into solid grassroots activism welcomed by
the support of concerned citizens in all 50 states who have
vowed to put an end to Denver’s dog breed witch-hunt and stop
other cities from adopting discriminatory breed laws.
Our stated objective is to stop government both at city and state
levels (and also the insurance companies) from imposing dog
ownership restrictions pursuant to the breed or physical
characteristics of a dog.
DenverKillsDogs.com is dedicated to Denver residents who are
ready to end the regime of an oppressive city government which
has violated their civil rights and caused immeasurable personal
suffering and loss.
You have the power of your next vote to remove each elected city
official who has supported the breed ban in an upcoming
election. Interview and endorse new candidates that oppose
breed discriminatory laws.
