Use the power of your voice and vote to urge Denver city officials to enforce a proper dangerous dog ordinance which does not
discriminate against certain dog breeds. Demand the repeal of Section 8-55 of the Municipal Code. Interview new candidates
running for office and ask how they will vote on this issue. Do NOT re-elect incumbents in favor of the breed ban.

In a democracy, people get the government they elect!

What you can do:

• Contact each of your city representatives and tell them why you oppose the breed ban. Ask them how they stand on the issue. Will
they work for change?

• Instruct them with a copy of the: NAIA Guide to Pet Friendly Ordinances. This well researched guide calls for stronger enforcement
of non-breed specific dangerous dog laws and tougher penalties for people who harbor dangerous dogs.

• Send them newsworthy stories of pit bulls (and pit mixes) being used as service dogs, therapy dogs, and police work such as
search and rescue missions and criminal investigations. Or just your own personal bully love story. “Show and Tell” is an effective
means to combat the myth that any breed of dog is inherently dangerous.

Make phone calls and write letters to all your city representatives — enlist the support of your neighbors and start a petition, too!
